As a result of a study published that was published, Viagra is now been approved for use in men who suffer from coronary artery disease. With this approval an avenue has been created that allows doctors and their patients to look at the option of using Viagra.
There are tons of men across the United States that suffer from ED, and many of these men suffer from a heart related health problem. With this situation at hand researchers began to conduct studies to see whether or not Viagra presented any dangers to men that suffer from heart disease or heart related problems. ED and heart disease have many common factors that contribute to them. Factors like old age, high blood and cholesterol levels, and diabetes are very common in both health problems.
Although conducted on a smaller scale, researchers conducted a clinical trial that involved a total of 14 men that ranged in age from age 61 to 72 years of age. All of the patients suffered from heart disease and 7 of the patients also suffered from hypertension and diabetes.
Men that did use nitrates as a medication were in good condition to stop taking their medicine for a period of 24 hours, before the study was conducted. It is good to restate that patients who do take nitrates should avoid Viagra because it does lower blood pressure.
All of the patients were given Viagra. Their blood, capillary, and artery pressures were carefully monitored and recorded. Also, careful attention and recording was made of the patient’s heart rate and their cardiac output.
The end results of the clinical study were that there were no significant changes in the coronary blood flow, heart rate, or overall cardiac output. It is also interesting to note that the researches did see a minimal reduction in the systematic and pulmonary vascular resistance.
It was determined that Viagra has no negative effect on men that suffer from heart disease, and the study also showed that Viagra helped to improve the overall coronary blood flow.
It is also good to note that the American Heart Association also promotes Viagra for use in heart patients who are in a stable condition, and do not medicate themselves with nitrates.
Although the study proved that this is useful and effective in heart disease sufferers and the American Heart Association promote the medicine it is still very strongly recommended that you consult your doctor before taking Viagra.
