Levitra works in the same fashion that Viagra and Cialis does. It is a PDE5 inhibitor and functions by allowing the chemical that causes an erection to move to the genital area and to stay there for a period of time. It inhibits the enzyme PDE5 and keeps it from blocking a full and firm erection that will take place under normal circumstances.
Levitra has the upper hand in the fact that it is selective in attacking the PDE5 enzyme and will not have an effect on other enzymes. Smaller doses of Levitra will have an overall greater effect than a much larger dose of Viagra.
To best explain this it is good to understand that 10mg of Levitra is the same as taking a 50mg dose of Viagra. The dosages of Levitra are more powerful even though the drugs have the same effect.
